God, I am SO tired of trying to do this by myself. I thought I could, and just blocked your voice out, and I wound up more lost than I’ve ever been. And you know what I learned? That I literally cannot live without you. Sure, I would still be breathing. But what for? Yeah, my heart would still be beating. But why? I would still be existing, but by no means living.

Lately, I have been feeling like I have been just chasing the wind. Like nothing I do has a point to it, or even satisfies, for that matter. I read all of Ecclesiastes this morning, and was both shocked and comforted to find out that Solomon felt the EXACT same way as I do now. We get so caught up in getting to where we want to be in our career or finishing school or getting married, and there is nothing wrong with that. But, without God in the center of it all, there is no point. We work so hard to get to the top; competing and defeating — or being defeated. Or maybe we are just trying to get by, aimlessly wandering; chasing the wind. We work our lives away; clock in, clock out. And for what? Yes, to survive and to provide, but what is it that we are working for that will still remain after we are dead? Or sometimes people try to satiate the voids in their hearts with things. Materialism is an epidemic that has victimized many people that are often blind to the disease; a sad vicious cycle. Always wandering, searching aimlessly for something that will satisfy, maybe a relationship or an addiction, but being disappointed every time because in the end they are only left with emptiness. Having plenty, but always lacking — that is, without God. Whether you are rich, poor, unemployed, CEO of a company, a hobo on the street, or a struggling college student like myself, we all, as human beings, have the same inevitable fate; death. So, why not use your job, your education, your resources, your finances, your dreams, passions, and ambitions for something that will remain after you are gone? Something eternal, even. God is literally the only thing in this ever-changing, chaotic universe that stays the same. Everything else just withers away. You see, He gives meaning to this meaningless life. He gives us a point, a purpose, and a reason; Him.
